Heli Extravaganza

Four days of RC helicopter flying at Triple Tree Aerodrome in Woodruff, South Carolina — September 3-6, 2026. Now in its second decade, the Heli Extravaganza puts pilots and their families on what many call the most beautiful flying field in the world. The field: a 1,000-foot flight line on golf-course-quality turf, five 200-foot-wide pilot stations, electric power on the flight line for charging, and night flying under the lights or in the dark. Random RC sponsors the 7th Annual Sliding Auto Contest. Registration is pre-registration only this year. Pilot registration is $50 and covers all four days (Saturday lunch not included); you'll need to show current AMA membership at check-in. A spectator pass is $5 for all four days, and kids 12 and under get in free. Staying on site: more than 50 premium campsites with 50A power and water at $55 per night, dry camping at $15 per night, plus acres of primitive spots. There's a huge bathhouse with hot showers right behind the flight line, an air-conditioned pilot lounge, and evening meals available for purchase. Dozens of hotels sit within 30 minutes if camping isn't your thing. Arrival and check-in: attendees may arrive after 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 2 to set up gear and campsites — no flying until Thursday morning. Check-in runs 4:00-6:00 PM Wednesday, 10:00 AM-6:00 PM Thursday and Friday, and 10:00 AM-3:00 PM Saturday. The event officially ends Sunday, September 6, and all attendees need to be off Triple Tree property by 6:00 PM Monday, September 7 (Labor Day).
